There are masked men rounding people up in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not in the dark corners of conspiracy, not in some dystopian sci-fi film\u2014but in real time, right now. They\u2019re staked out at schools, loitering near courthouses, sitting idle outside immigration offices. But they\u2019re not there for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re there for the brown and the Black.<\/strong>
They know exactly where to look. And who to ignore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ain\u2019t nobody raiding Canadian expats in Aspen. No boots in white Polish neighborhoods in Chicago. Not a whisper in German enclaves out West. These “operations” are surgical\u2014targeted racial enforcement dressed up in paperwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s stop pretending we don\u2019t recognize the formation.
These aren\u2019t just ICE agents. These are the new paddy rollers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the 1700s, paddy rollers\u2014short for patrollers\u2014were groups of white men, often masked and mounted, deputized by the state to control, capture, and kill enslaved Africans. Their job? Enforce white order. Police the movement of Black flesh. Intimidate. Deter. Destroy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And their authority wasn\u2019t rogue\u2014it was legal. The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850<\/strong> codified their power and enlisted white society into the hunt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll good citizens are hereby commanded to aid and assist in the prompt and efficient execution of this law\u2026\u201d<\/strong>
<\/em>\u2014Section 5, Fugitive Slave Act of 1850<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It didn\u2019t just empower patrollers. It deputized everyday whiteness.
And it came with incentives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe commissioner shall receive ten dollars if he shall deliver the fugitive into the custody of the claimant, but five dollars\u2026if the alleged fugitive shall be discharged.\u201d<\/strong>
<\/em>\u2014Section 8<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ten dollars for sending a person into bondage.
Five dollars if they walked free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s not justice\u2014that\u2019s a bounty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what followed was predictable:
Free Black people were often kidnapped off northern streets and sold South.<\/strong>
No due process. No papers. No chance.
Their skin was evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that history should stop you in your tracks. Because here we are again, watching the same structure shapeshift<\/strong>\u2014into ICE raids, task forces, and militarized border units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s enforcement agents still get paid to round up bodies.
Today\u2019s private detention centers still profit per detainee.
And today\u2019s \u201cgood citizens\u201d still call the tip lines, nod quietly, or turn the other way.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Let me say this plain:
If you\u2019re a Black American watching this thinking \u201cthat\u2019s not my fight,\u201d you better wake up.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are not protected. We are not privileged.
We. Are. Next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You think these patrols will stop with brown immigrants?
You think a country that built an entire legal system to enslave and surveil you just forgot?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History doesn\u2019t misfire\u2014it reloads.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s reloading right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

California protesters have taken to the streets in righteous anger\u2014and what\u2019s the response? The National Guard. The threat of U.S. military force.<\/strong> For protesting. For standing up. For resisting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You know what they call that?
Control.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same as it ever was.
Masked men, sanctioned by the state, showing up where the darkness meets the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here\u2019s the part we need to name out loud:
Some of these newly deputized ICE agents and private contractors are very likely the same men who stormed the Capitol on January 6th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They didn\u2019t disappear\u2014they just put on new uniforms.
They failed to overthrow the government, so now they\u2019ve joined it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think about that. The same energy that brought nooses and zip ties into the halls of Congress is now rounding up brown families with a badge and a clipboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White grievance doesn\u2019t dissolve\u2014it gets reassigned.
It gets funded.
It gets federalized.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ve always had a badge, a mask, and a target. And they\u2019ve always bet on us forgetting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this time, we remember.
We see them.
We write it down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
