As I mentioned earlier this week, I will no longer stand during the national anthem for two reasons 1) because the real song included a threat to slaves that if they chose FREEDOM by siding with the British they would be killed 2) the same judicial system that Francis Scott Key was a member of is the same one that does not punish police officers who kill Black and Brown people.

I issue this challenge to everyone who believes that Black Lives Matter to do the following during the anthem tonight or any time you attend an event where it is played:

  1. Stand up and salute the flag; it represents freedom
  2. Find a Veteran and shake their hand and thank them
  3. Sit down during the singing/playing of a song that was written by a racist and adopted as these countries anthem by a bigot, and as acknowledgement of loss of people of color at the hands of the police…
