Here is the reality; the people who would turn in a gun for $100 are not the people that use them! Grandma or Grandpa may have found a gun in their house that their little knuckleheaded grandson hid that he had no intention of using anyway, a few parents who are fed up with the madness in our community, AND a few people who HAVE ANOTHER GUN!
Think about this – if I am a gun toting, streetwise, possibly drug selling kid out in the streets; why one earth would I give up my protection? That is just like asking me to stand butt ass naked on the corner for $100. With the climate the way it is right now in Evanston, there is no way the people who would use a gun are giving them up!
Secondly, are we that naïve to think that $100 means anything to people who are out on the streets “hustling”? These kids believe they are in a war in the middle of a war zone and with that mindset there is NO chance that they would give up their weapon.
Wake up people!
