Speak Spanish to Spanish speakers, I have been using Duolingo and currently on a 191-day streak of consecutive learning. I can now read and most sentences and paragraphs and use context to figure out words I’m unfamiliar with and think I can speak basic phrases and sentences…when I’m alone. My intention is to be able to carry on fluent conversations with Spanish speakers, right now whenever I engage with my neighbors, team members, and even my son Max who is fluent (even if he claims he isn’t) I freeze up. Intentions should always have a why. First, we have lived next to our Mexican neighbors for almost 27 years. Second, over half of my workforce speak the language, thank goodness for google translate, but it is still difficult to exchange information and build a more cohesive team. Finally, I think I’m tired of only speaking with a colonized tongue.
Habla español para hispanohablantes, he estado usando Duolingo y actualmente estoy en una racha de 191 días de aprendizaje consecutivo. Ahora puedo leer la mayoría de las oraciones y párrafos y usar el contexto para descifrar palabras con las que no estoy familiarizado y creo que puedo pronunciar frases y oraciones básicas… cuando estoy solo. Mi intención es poder mantener conversaciones fluidas con hispanohablantes, en este momento, cada vez que me relaciono con mis vecinos, miembros del equipo e incluso con mi hijo Max, que habla con fluidez (incluso si dice que no lo es), me congelo. Las intenciones siempre deben tener un por qué. Primero, hemos vivido al lado de nuestros vecinos mexicanos durante casi 27 años. En segundo lugar, más de la mitad de mi fuerza laboral habla el idioma, gracias a Dios por el traductor de Google, pero aún es difícil intercambiar información y construir un equipo más cohesionado. Finalmente, creo que estoy cansado de hablar solo con una lengua colonizada.
